MABEL BEARD 1929 - 2010 Mabel's family is deeply saddened to announce her unexpected passing at the age of 81 years on September 10, 2010. Mabel was a long-time resident of Thompson, Manitoba, having moved there with her husband, Gordon and their two children, Holly and Bill, in 1960. Mabel and Gordon owned several businesses in Thompson and, in addition, Gordon served as the M.L.A. for the Churchill constituency from January 1962 until his death in November 1972. After Gordon passed away, Mabel went on to operate several of her own businesses, including Mabel's Table, The Paint Lake Marina and Rick's Marine. Mabel will be remembered for her strength of character, her strong work ethic, and her strong commitment to family. Mabel, or Nanny as she preferred to be called, will be lovingly remembered by her children, Holly (Richard Whidden) and Bill, their children, Richard (Jennifer), Rachel, Stefania, Jenna, Aaron, and Devon, her adopted family, Paul and Faith Pritchard and their children, Claire, Becky and Sarah, and her many other friends and family. A memorial service will be held in Winnipeg on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 130 Nassau St. N. (at the corner of Nassau and Stradbrook). Friends and family are invited to Richard and Holly's house to visit and share memories of Mabel at any time after 5:00 p.m. Directions to the house will be provided at the church or by calling 477-8793. A memorial service will also be held in Thompson on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at St. James the Apostle Anglican Church, 10 Caribou Rd., with interment to follow at the Thompson Cemetery. There will be refreshments at the church hall following the interment. In memory of Mabel and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either church or to the Thompson Community Foundation, P.O.
