Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM THOMAS LOVATT April 27, 1916 - September 15, 2010 Bill Lovatt passed away peacefully at age 94, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Bill was predeceased by Jean, his wife of 56 years in 1997, when they lived in Saskatchewan. For the last decade, Bill lived in Maple Ridge, BC, with his companion Faye MacDonald. Bill will be loved and remembered by all his family, including his daughter April (and Gary Helm) of Aldergrove, BC and his son Bill (and Donna) of Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren, Kozma, Jim, Dan, Tem, Lee, Kara, William and Chantal; step-grandchildren, Adam and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Jaden, Taivian, Mekalya and Natalya. Raised in Saskatchewan, the son of a railroad engineer, he served in the Second World War as a pilot stationed in Tofino. Bill spent his career managing stores for Canada Safeway in Moose Jaw and Regina, ultimately heading Employee Relations until he retired at age 72. Always a determined spirit, Bill had a strong and demanding work ethic, leading by example and reinforcing the high expectations he set for others. Bill's transition from Regina to Maple Ridge in his 80s, at the loss of his wife Jean, was remarkable. His last years spent with Faye in Maple Ridge were happy and fulfilling ones. There will be a family celebration of Bill's life, in Aldergrove, BC on Sunday, September 19. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
