STAN OWCZAREK Peacefully, in the presence of his immediate family, after a courageous battle with cancer Stan passed away on September 15, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Stan leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 20 years Joanna, stepson Mike (Kristie), his mother Helen, his brother Ed, sister Sophie (Gilles), brother-in-law Bob and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Stan was predeceased by his father Walter Owczarek and his sister Mary Zuk. Stan was born on May 8, 1955 in Smarchowice, Poland. He moved to Canada with his family when he was four years old and grew up on the family farm in Fraserwood, Manitoba. Stan attended high school in Gimli and worked long hours on the farm when not in class. Stan was very mechanically inclined and began working as a mechanic at an early age. His hard working, proud, intelligent, innovative work ethic soon found him working in the aircraft industry. He worked for many years at Standard Aero before becoming a founding partner at Aero Recip in March of 1988 where he was one of the top mechanics. He continued working at Aero Recip until his health prevented him from continuing the work he so much enjoyed. Living in his rural home near Stonewall, he enjoyed the simple beauty of nature and took great pride in his beautiful home and gardens. He will be missed by the many friends and family who enjoyed Stan's company and benefited from his intelligent advice. His motto was the sun is always shining, even when it is behind the clouds. The family would like to thank Dr. Johnson, Dr. Chakrabarty and the other caring staff who looked after Stan during his illness. Memorial service will be held Monday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba 675 McDermot Ave, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
