ALEXANDER JOSEPH ANDRIES On September 16, 2010 Alex Andries, age 80, passed away at his home in St. James with his cat Smokey by his side. Alex was born January 12, 1930 in Mariapolis, MB. He came to Winnipeg at age 16 where he worked sanding wood floors. He finished his professional career working with the Federal Government for 36 years. Alex was predeceased by his estranged wife Ludmila (Lil), parents Octave and Suzanna of Belgium, as well as sisters Germaine Bonnot and Lorraine Bussel of Winnipeg. Mourning Alex is his sister Irene Butler of Winnipeg as well as Alex's six children: Randy Andries, wife Cora and children Jackie and Christopher; Anita Brackston, husband Trevor; Hedy Ann Andries of Langley, BC; Alison Fleming, husband Dave, children Matthew of Creston, BC and Rebecca Dupperon, husband Rick and Alex only great-grandchild Michael of Prince George, BC; Monica Tedham, children Megan and Steven; Janet Chernov, husband Jerry. The family wishes to thank the staff at Fire Hall #19 for their ongoing assistance. Visitation will take place Wednesday, September 22, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Friday, September 24, 10:00 a.m. All services: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
