LAWRENCE VICTOR GAFKA Peacefully, on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at the Beacon Hill Lodge, Lawrence Gafka, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 88 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lynne (Nick) Laninga; sons Wayne Gafka of Miami, FL, Greg Gafka of Abbotsford, BC, Robert (Donna) Gafka of Agassiz, BC; his loving nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his brother Wilf Gafka; sister-in-law Kae Speer; brother-in-law Bryan St. George; and many nieces and nephews. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents; his wife Doris (2003); son Gary (1973); two brothers; and two sisters. Dad was passionate about golf his entire life. He lived the game, watched the game and, until the age of 74, could always be found on the greens ! The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Beacon Hill Lodge for the care and compassion extended to our dad over the years. Memorial service to be conducted by Pastor Paul Brown on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. Private family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. He will be sadly missed, but will be in our hearts and memories forever.
