ELAINE EDNA MURRAY (nee LEWIS) Peacefully, with family at her side, Elaine passed away September 18, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Laurel (Doug Dosko), granddaughters Hailey and Brynn, and her son Patrick (Melissa). She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in 1987. Elaine grew up in Winnipeg where she attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. It was here she met Bill. They spent time at the roller rink being involved in roller dance together and Elaine watching Bill's roller hockey. They were married in 1952. Elaine was employed in the office of Burns Meats for a number of years before children came along and she stayed home to raise them. Mum was actively involved in her children's lives being both mum and dad at times because of Bill's job. Beginning as local chauffeur to baseball, hockey, figure skating, and curling games she continued on as a supportive spectator. She also enjoyed curling herself. As grandma, she enjoyed her granddaughters' school concerts and dance recitals. Summertime was lake time and this was an important part of Elaine's life. She enjoyed many years at the cabin at Falcon Lake which she and Bill built. She loved to go berry picking with the neighbours. Mum loved animals and a number of family pets passed through the home. The squirrels, chipmunks, and deer at the lake were also well fed. A memorial service will take place on Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Rd., Winnipeg, MB at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of choice supporting animals or children would be gratefully appreciated.
