She was an amazing wife, mom, grand-maman, sister, matante and friend. With her family by her side, Pat passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, on September 20, 2010, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 43 years, Jean-Paul, and their children: Pauline (Richard), Danièle (James), Chantal (Darryl) and Ghislain (Julie). Grand-maman will always have a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren, Mylène, Geneviève, Liam, Nève, Noah and Eric. She also leaves to mourn her passing, her brother Marcel (Camille). She is predeceased by her loving parents, Délima and Raymond Breton, homesteaders from La Rochelle, MB. Pat was a devoted nurse for 35 years, helping to further cardiology research in the latter part of her career. Mom was passionate about working for the French-Canadian community in her roles as member of the board of directors of the Festival du Voyageur, as president of the Société Franco-Manitobaine from 1993 to 1997, and as an advisor on various committees to further ensure health services en français, both locally and nationally. Elle a été un leader dans sa communauté pour assurer la protection des droits des francophones minoritaires. Mom loved to travel, golf, and spend time with family and friends. She always looked forward to entertaining at the cottage (le p'tit bonheur) in Stuartburn. Her legacy includes a deep rooted faith in language and culture, a zest for life and a close knit circle of friends and family. She will be sadly missed by all. Sois en paix, chère maman! The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Unit and the CancerCare Unit at Health Sciences Centre for their dedicated and compassionate care extended to Pat. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Eglise Sts. Martyrs-Canadiens, 289 Dussault Ave. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Riverview Health Centre Palliative Unit or the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada.
