HENRY ERIC YOUNG August 23, 1941 - September 19, 2010 It is with great sadness that Eric's family announces his passing at St. Boniface Hospital. Members of his family were present when this phase of his journey ended. Eric was born in Grandview, MB in 1941 and in 1944 moved to Winnipeg, MB. He worked as a roofer, electrician and retired from the City of Winnipeg in 1996. Eric is survived by his wife Eleanor; his daughter Pamela and son Bradley; his daughter-in-law Tally, his granddaughter Aine and he was excited to be welcoming a grandson at Christmas. He is also survived by his brother Kenneth (Carole) and their family; sister Janice Young and sister Cheryl Young and family, along with his mother-in-law Mary Taillieu; sister-in-law Marlene (Mike) and family; sister-in-law Dorene (Jerry) and family; sister-in-law Diana (Gerry) and family; sister-in-law Sonia and family; brother-in-law Michael and family. His large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews will miss him dearly as will his many friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his parents Henry Young, Annabel Young (nee Tarzwell); stepmother Marge Young (nee Bruce); brother Donald Young; his first wife Iris Young (nee Podolsky); fathers-in-law George Taillieu and Michael Podolsky; mother-in-law Josephine Podolsky and brother-in-law Lawrence Taillieu. He had fond memories of going to his grandparents' farm in Grandview to visit with his cousins. He was very active in the St. Sebastian Archery Club as well as the Manitoba Pole Archery Association, holding various board positions throughout the years. He was an active member of the CUPE Local 500 Union for the City of Winnipeg until his retirement. Eric enjoyed bowling and was an avid 5-pin and 10-pin bowler. He was involved in the governing associations of this sport as well. Eric was looking forward to being inducted into the Manitoba Ten Pin Federation Hall of Fame in November of this year. His other passions were his family, his garden and puttering around the yard. He loved to take trips to visit family. Eric spent most of his summers tending his garden and feasting on the fruits of his labours. He was always willing to lend a hand to neighbours with whatever they needed. Everyone who knew Eric would agree he was a very social person and enjoyed being around his friends and family. In keeping with Eric's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd. A reception will follow immediately after the service in the Belgian Club, 407 Provencher Blvd. If friends so desire, donations in Eric's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
