JOAN HAMPTON SHERRETT October 28, 1926 - August 28, 2010 Predeceased by mother, father and brother, Fred. Left to cherish the memories of her terrific life; loyal husband, Robert (Bob) of 64 years, only child James (Linda), much loved grandsons, James (Monique) of Vancouver and Scott (Amanda) of Winnipeg, their mother, Janice McManes (Keith), sister Betty of Toronto, extended family and friends. Joan was born in Peterborough, Ontario and grew up in Toronto. Joan spoke often and fondly of her wonderful and privileged upbringing in the city, adventures on Lake Ontario, and of her father's textile business, which possibly ignited her love for fabrics and colour and her later flair and passion for decorating homes. Joan met her husband, Bob, during the war years when he was stationed in Toronto. They were married and moved to Kenora in 1946 and Winnipeg in 1955, residing in River Heights and Charleswood, and making wonderful summer memories at Long Bow Lake and Lake of the Woods. Joan spent most of her working years beautifully decorating homes and cottages. Joan/Nanny will be remembered for her big smile, consistent good nature, positive attitude, generosity, love of family and friends, unique quirks and the colour red. Special thanks to: West Park Manor staff and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations would be much appreciated by West Park Manor, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3R 1X2, the Alzheimer's Society, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9 or a charity of your choice.
