KENNETH LINDSAY COAD Suddenly on September 23, 2010 Kenneth Coad passed away at his residence at the Portsmouth. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in September of 2007. Ken is survived by his dog, Samson, nephew Andrew Coad, niece Elizabeth Coad, and special friends Ian and Jill Wakeman and their children Emily and Scott, all of whom reside in Australia. He will be remembered by nephew Jack Bell (Joyce), Tyler and Brody, niece Beverly Crone (Tex), Cherie and Sean Hennessey, Caitlyn, Pamela and Wayne Landgraff, as well as his sister-in-law Jean Bell, all residing in Canada. Ken immigrated to Canada in the mid 1950s. He spent over 50 years as a master plumber, first working with the tools and retiring as a manager at MMP Architects. In September of 1962, he married Margaret. They resided on Waterloo Street for over 45 years. Declining health over the last year forced Ken to take up residence at the Portsmouth which he truly enjoyed. Ken's sports abilities included being a longtime member and past president of Winnipeg Badminton Club, Winnipeg Canoe Club and the Wildwood Golf and Country Club. Many a time he was the provincial badminton champion and was an avid and competitive golfer. Never forgetting his Australian roots, he was also a proud member of the Down Under Club in Winnipeg. Ken was a Freemason for 61 years, receiving numerous awards. His love for the fraternity was exhibited in all aspects of his life, his latest being Templum Sion Lodge. He also enjoyed being a member of Khartum Shrine. Between Freemasonry and the Shrine, he enjoyed many lifelong friendships. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in the Winnipeg Humane Society. According to Ken's wishes, a Masonic service will be held Saturday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Masonic Temple (Canada Room), 420 Corydon Ave. at Confusion Corner.
