DOROTHY MAY ELLIS Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Billings Court Manor, Burlington, Ontario on Friday, September 24, 2010, Dorothy Ellis (nee Kerslake) in her 92nd year, formerly of Winnipeg. Beloved wife of the late Jack Ellis, loved mother of David and his wife Beverley, and Diane and her husband, Bob Dolan. Cherished grandmother of Lori Ellis and her husband, Bill Haldenby; Jeff Dolan and his wife, Jennifer; Ryan and Andrea Dolan. Loving great-grandmother of Liam and Emma, Tyler and Braden. Predeceased by her sister, Eileen. Private cremation has taken place. A memorial service and burial will be held in Winnipeg in the Spring. Dorothy had fond memories of her beloved Winnipeg and her many friends there. Particularly, she often spoke of her involvement years ago with young people whether it be the Girl Guides or the badminton players at the Wildwood Club. Also, her affiliation with St. Paul's Anglican Church in Fort Garry meant a great deal to her. Dorothy also volunteered for many years at the St. Agnes Guild at Children's Hospital and in 2004 was honoured to be made a Half-Century-Club member of the guild. In her later years, Dorothy loved to garden and make Xmas cookies for all her friends and neighbours. To many she was known as the cookie lady . Dorothy loved animals, especially dogs and, if desired, a donation to The Humane Society or an animal shelter would be appreciated as would a donation to a charity of choice.
