WILLIAM GERALD MILLER AITKEN January 13, 1932 September 29, 2010 On Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family, Bill passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marlene, his children Barbara Bezeau (Guy), Cheryl Posten (Denis) and Neil Aitken (Barbara), his nine adored grandchildren, his precious great-grandson and namesake, and his sister Roslyn Lecuyer. Bill became a Chartered Accountant in 1958 and began his career in public practice in Winnipeg, becoming a senior partner in Glendinning, Jarret, Campbell and Dever. He was president of Westan Holdings until his retirement. Bill and Marlene moved to Victoria in 1987, became members of Royal Colwood Golf Club and enjoyed a long and happy retirement enriched by many wonderful friends. Visits from their far flung extended family brought great times and many laughs. Bill was known for his dry wit, keen interest in history and his extensive documentation of the genealogy of his family, a lasting gift he leaves to his children. His healthy life ended relatively abruptly but he lived a full and complete life. We were so very fortunate he was part of our lives. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Royal Colwood Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or The Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation.
