ARNOLD EMIL KACHKOWSKI Arnold was born on July 1, 1929 in Garland, Manitoba and passed away peacefully on the morning of September 30, 2010 at his home in St. Andrews, Manitoba with his wife Joyce, and his dog, Misty, by his side. Remaining to forever cherish Arnold's memory is his wife Joyce; brothers, Cecile (June), Gordon and Carman (Janet); sister Dorene; daughters, Karen Goodridge (Dean), Penny Malegus (Richard), Sherri Jacobucci (Randy), Tammy Veselinovich (Peter), Michel Young (Doug); grandchildren, Adam (Sheryl), Shea, Jesse, Emerald, Bailee, Curtis, Amanda, Sarah (Jared), Andrea, Vanessa and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Ella and Joseph; and many wonderful neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Georgiana; and his brother Verne. At an early age, Arnold became an avid outdoorsman, enjoying nature to the fullest and perfecting his hunting, fishing and canoeing skills, all of which served him well throughout his life. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his children and grandchildren, and would always have a gleam in his eyes as he recounted his experiences. Arnold's love of the outdoors led to a career that included farming and logging, as well as a fireman with the railroad. He never really retired, but instead focused on his volunteer activities with his church, Hands of Hope, Siloam Mission and the Selkirk Food Bank. On Saturday, October 9, 2010, Arnold's funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Grace Christian Church, 50 Barnes Street (off Bison Drive), with Pastor Alan Redman, presider. Special thanks to neighbours, Adam and Michelle, Dr. Randoon and the medical staff at Selkirk General Hospital for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Arnold's memory to Hands of Hope, 50 Barnes Street, Winnipeg, MB R3T 4Z7.
