Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS C. (SANDY) SANDERSON Doug, born in Winnipeg on October 24, 1930, passed away on July 31, 2010. Doug lived his early life in the north end of Winnipeg. He was, in those days, a pin setter in a bowling alley, a short order cook, a restauranteur, a furrier, and loving son and brother who helped raise his six younger siblings. Joining the Canadian Air Force in 1952, Sandy' Sanderson rose steadily through the enlisted ranks with postings all across Canada and Germany. He retired a Warrant Officer after nearly 30 years of service to Queen and Country. Sandy went on to a second career as Executive Director of the Quesnel Tillicum Society, retiring in 1992 after more than a decade of service to the Aboriginal community. He is survived by his two children, Douglas and Sheila Sanderson and their mother Esther, four grandchildren, wife Bev, sisters Joyce Hannah, Grace (Tootsie) Spence, Sandra Wolfe, Darlene Pomanski, brother Billy Sanderson and his beloved friend and aunt, Elsie Saunderson, and was predeceased by his sister Peggy. A service to commemorate Doug's life will be held on October 23, 2010 at the Robert A. Steen Community Centre, 980 Palmerston in Winnipeg, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
