Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS (VIGDER) KIRCH Doris passed away at the Simkin Centre on October 1, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband, Simon, her parents, Isaac and Malke Vigder, her brothers, Benny and Joseph, and sister-in-law Molly. She is survived by her Vigder nephews, David, William and Mark, and their families of Ottawa, her niece and nephew, Miriam and Phil Maltz, her great-niece Sharon Maltz (Howard Jesierski) and her great-great-nephews, Matthew, Ryan and Michael Jesierski. Doris was born in 1912 and grew up on the family grain farm in the Jewish colony of Lipton, Saskatchewan. She completed her early education in a one room schoolhouse and ultimately she attended the University of Saskatchewan and earned B.A. and B.Ed. degrees. She taught in several small schools in rural Saskatchewan until the Second World War broke out. Then, she joined the Air Force and served in the meteorological branch in numerous stations across Canada. In 1955 she returned to teaching in a math and science position at West Kildonan Collegiate but left in 1962 to get married and join her husband in the operation of a wholesale shoe business, Reliable Shoes. Doris was a woman of many talents and interests which she maintained right to the end of her life because she was blessed with good health and mental capacities that remained intact. She was devoted to family, community and Israel. She travelled the world, interested in new cultures and traditions. She was fiercely independent, bright, compassionate and generous. She had the whole package of a lady . Near the end she said that she had a good life - she was very much at peace. Funeral services will take place at the B'nay Abraham Cemetery, October 4 at 1:30 p.m.
