Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNIE NIXON MORRISON (nee McBURNEY) 1915 - 2010 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Ann Morrison, who passed away October 3, 2010 after a tragic accident. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Judi Simpson and Jan Bean (Jim), grandchildren Jackie Morrison Demchuk (Randy), Karen Bell, Catharine Beattie (Callum), Brad Simpson (Sarah), and Blake Simpson (Samantha) and great-grandchildren Braeden, Keenan, Bailey, Laughlin, Brody, and Rylee. Ann was predeceased by her husband Jim, son Bill, son-in-law Don Simpson, brothers Bill and Jim McBurney and grandchild Cindy Morrison. Ann was born and raised in Weston and lived there most of her life. She was well known in the neighbourhood for rolling up her sleeves and pitching in where help was needed. Her acts of kindness will be remembered fondly by many. Ann was a member of Sparling United Church and the UCW. She could often be found working tirelessly in the kitchen at their events. Spare time was often spent baking, knitting or sewing items for fundraisers or family members. Ann began swimming lessons at North Centennial Pool while in her 60's. This interest led Ann and her husband Jim to be active in the formation of the North Centennial Seniors Association. This group lobbied City Hall and raised funds which were instrumental in the building of the North Centennial Seniors Centre. After Jim passed, Ann moved to a Seniors Complex where she enjoyed all the activities with long time friend Sadie Peterson. She was active until the end. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff of Health Sciences Centre: Emergency Room, Trauma Unit and in particular, the GA3 step-down ward whose compassion and sensitivity was appreciated during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held at the Dining Hall, 1080 Powers Avenue, on Thursday, October 7th at 7:30 p.m. (Entrance at side of building) A private family burial will take place at Chapel Lawn. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
