Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT ALBERT BJORN GUNNLAUGSSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, uncle and friend on October 2, 2010. Bobby was born September 11, 1934 and lived his whole life on the family homestead. Bobby was the middle child and only son to Helga and John Gunnlaugsson. He is survived by his sister Irene and her five children, his sister Evelyn and her three children and many cousins who he spent a great deal of time with over the years because family was very important to Bobby. Bobby attended the Narrows School with his siblings but at a young age joined the family business of farming, commercial fishing and later carpentry. Together with his father the John Gunnlaugsson and Son business worked long hard hours at home, on Lake Manitoba and in the surrounding communities. Bobby and his father were known for all the contributions they made to the community through both their businesses and community service works. All who knew Bobby knew he had many loves and things he felt passionate about. In his youth he curled and would drive almost anywhere for a match or bonspiel. Bobby cooked and entertained friends and family his whole life. His flowers gave him great pleasure. He was happiest when the weather co-operated and his plants were in full bloom and he could entertain his best friends with the Club parties Bobby was always willing to host. In his retirement years Bobby worked harder than ever as he became interested in history and the family tree. He was tireless in his research and the archives he created. Years of reading history and a great memory for details brought many people to his doorstep with questions few but Bobby could have answered. The sad part is that Bobby had many plans still in the works. The last big project Bobby contributed towards was the restoration of two local cemeteries, which gave him great pride to be a part of. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Siglunes Community Hall, with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at the Oakview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Yaworski, Johnny Delaurier, Don Nachtigall, Blair Olafson, Randy Geisler, Tim Byman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bob to the Oakview Cemetery Fund, c/o Solrun Reiner, Oakview, MB, R0C 2K0. ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593
