VALERIE RENTZ August 11, 1948 - October 1, 2010 It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our loving Wife, Momma, Sister, Gramma, Aunt and friend on Friday, October 1, 2010. Valerie cutie Rentz was born August 11, 1948 in Glasgow, Scotland to the late Flora North and late Samuel Nutt. She leaves behind her husband Ed, of 42 wonderful years, her big sister and best friend, Barbara Coutts (husband Bertram), daughters Cherylle Derksen (husband Chris), and Tricia deJong (husband René), the loves of her life, her three and a half' grandchildren, Kayleigh, Ryland, Addison and Newgit, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was just recently predeceased by her big brother Monty Knight. Mom fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past two and a half years. She always had the attitude to never give up. She was a fighter. We would like to express our appreciation to the amazing doctors and nurses who were there to help Mom. Just to name a few, Dr. Crawford, Dr. Clark, Dr. Lipschitz, Dr. Czaykowski, Dr. Fatoye and the nurses from Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th floor Units 1 and 3, Candace, Tony, Tara and Susan, you were all so wonderful to us. Mom spent the last 25+ years working for the Manitoba Arts Council as an Administrator's Assistant. Everyone knew that she was the Biggest Blue Bomber fan ever! She spent the last 43 years as a season ticket holder with her sister, only ever missing a handful of games. Her off-season passions included sitting around a campfire, cheating at scrabble, playing cards and just having fun with her family. Family was the most important thing to her, especially her Puddin', Pumkin' and Popitt'. She was always the caregiver of the family who was most famous for her homemade chicken soup. There will not be a funeral service as per Mom's wishes, but there will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 1101 Lansdowne Ave. beginning at 2:00 p.m. It will be a come and go as you wish, and we ask that you try to dress in Blue Bomber colours if at all possible. Mom wouldn't want it any other way! In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the CancerCare Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
