WILLIAM (BILL) MCLARTY Surrounded by his loving family Dad passed away peacefully on October 1, 2010. He leaves to mourn his four children, Barry (Susan), Gail Kasprick (Murray), Glenda, and Brian (Vicki) and his six grandchildren Sean Kasprick, Scott Kasprick (Crystal), Jennifer McLarty (Dan), Jenny Dubé (Lance), Ian McLarty (Jenilee), and Michelle McLarty; and three great-grandchildren, Paige and Hayden Dubé and Sadie Kasprick. Dad is also survived by his sister Ruth Sans, and brothers Jack (Jean), Don (Marlene) and Keith (Margaret) as well as his two brothers-in-law Glen (Marilyn) Wilkinson and Bill (Karen) Wilkinson and many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his wife, our Mom, Marjorie in 2002. He was also predeceased by his infant sister Kathleen. Dad was born on October 5, 1930 in Franklin, MB, the fourth child of Neil and Edith McLarty. He left home at the age of 15 to make his way in the world, and found a lifelong career in the trucking industry. He worked for many years for Swan River-The Pas Transport Company where he made friends that would last throughout his life, including his buddy Hugh Spiers. He started working for Trimac Transportation in 1968 as a driver, and eventually moved into the office to dispatch, and finally into management. He managed Trimac terminals in Brandon, Thunder Bay and Schrieber, ON, and Trail, BC. As a manager, he was assigned terminals that were not profitable, and in every case he would turn them into viable businesses. Dad loved to spend time with his brother Jack and his family, and most of all he loved to load up the Jimmy and the trailer and go camping with Mom. He also loved to bowl 10 pin, and he and Mom spent a lot of hours in league play, particularly during their years in Brandon. Dad retired in 1996 when he and Mom returned to Winnipeg to be close to family. The ensuing years were spent with Mom, chauffeuring children and grandchildren, and enjoying being in his home, surrounded by family and friends. During Mom's illness he was constantly providing care for her and being at her side and truly earned his place in heaven. When Mom passed away Dad was lost and he often stated that not a minute went by that he didn't think of her and miss her. We are thankful that they are together again, watching over all of us as they always have. Special thanks to Hughie for being the very best friend that Dad could ever have hoped for you are part of our family forever. Thanks also to the wonderful staff at Concordia Hospital who helped Dad during his many hospitalizations it was always comforting for him to see familiar faces at his time of need. The circle of life is constant on Dad's way to heaven he most certainly met his first great- grandson Hayden who arrived in this world one hour after Dad left it. Dad we will miss you more than you could ever imagine and will love you forever. While the world lost a lovely man, heaven gained a special angel. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, Winnipeg. A family interment will take place in Neepawa, MB on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
