Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) ERNEST FORSYTH Jim Forsyth, formally of Sterling House, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2010 at the Poseidon Care Centre at the age of 96 years. Jim worked at Canada Packers for 49 years, starting as a worker in the plant and retiring as a plant superintendent. Jim is predeceased by his parents Mabel and Jim, first wife Hazel (Whitney), second wife Dorothy (Hicks), brother Jack, sisters, Margaret Dawson, Mary Curtis and Betty Swain. Left to cherish his memory are son Jim Forsyth (Elsie), granddaughter Sherilyn Robertson (Mark) and loving great-granddaughters Samantha and Jamie; daughter Lynn Tracy (Keith) of Rexburg, Idaho and grandchildren Helen (Lee), Craig (Leonne), Kenneth, Noah, Jenna-Leigh, Krista-Lyn, Matthew (Rachel), Tera-Dawn, Ashli-Anne (Greg), Bonni-Jean, Merica-Kate and OLD DAD to Bethany, Emily, Jeremiah, Benjamin and 16 other great-grandchildren. Dad was born in Eriksdale, MB on November 26, 1913. He attended school in Portage La Prairie, moved to Winnipeg and started his long and successful career in the packing house industry. Dad was loved and respected by family, friends, and co-workers. He was always there for them when they needed a helping hand. Over his many years he was involved in the community as a member of Masonic Keystone Lodge No. 185 for 60 years, Chairman - Committee of Stewards at John Black Memorial Church (1964), East Kildonan Kiwanis Club, Assistant Boy Scout Leader, President of his Condo Corporation in St. Vital and many other organizations. Some of Dad's happiest times were at the cottage. He built three cottages in the Whiteshell, first the one at Brereton Lake and the other two at Dorothy Lake. He loved a good party, smoking Goldeyes in the smoker he built and barbecuing big roasts and turkeys. His attitude was the more people for dinner the merrier. In the off season, he wanted the family over for Sunday dinner, Christmas, Easter and other occasions he would dream up, to eat the produce from his gardens at Richer, MB. Dad cooked the meat and mom did the rest. Dad loved to Golf with his old pal Red Goodman and in 1998 he made a hole-in-one at Cottonwood Golf Course. He also enjoyed curling, hunting, fishing and watching N.F.L. Football on TV. After mom passed away in 1980, dad married Dorothy and they travelled to Australia, New Zealand, Europe, U.S.A., Mexico and across Canada. They also spent time at Big Whiteshell Lake, MB. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this very difficult time. We also thank the staff at the Poseidon for their care and compassion, in particular, nurses Marie, Susan and Leslie. In keeping with dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., followed by a gathering of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in dad's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of choice. Lang May Yer Lum Reek Chapel Lawn 885-9715
