HARRY A. ENNS With sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and great-uncle on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Victoria General Hospital's I.C.U. in his 85th year. Harry was predeceased by his parents Abraham and Helen Enns, brothers Peter, Abram, Jacob, and Nick, and sisters Helen, Mary, and Agatha. He leaves to mourn, wife Terry, sons Richard, Lawrence (Lori), Brad (Susan), and John (Teralyn), daughter Susan, and brother John. He was also a very proud grandfather to Kerry, Trevor, Rylee, Jordan, Jade and Jackson, and will also be greatly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Harry was one of the original Enns Brothers who started the John Deere farm implement business in 1956. In 1971, he was elected to the Winnipeg City Council, where he sat on the Winnipeg Finance Committee as well as the board of Trustees for the Victoria General Hospital. In 1975, Harry returned to his first love, farming with his family full time as H. Enns Sons Farms. Harry's ties were always to family and to La Salle. He was an enthusiastic member of the Building Committee for the La Salle Community Centre, where he curled for many years with his sons. And as a lasting legacy, he was the creator of Kingswood, built on the same land that he and his family had farmed for so many years before. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road in Fort Garry, with Reverend Hugo Unruh presiding. Interment at the La Salle Mennonite Cemetery will follow. Pallbearers will be Richard, Lawrence, Brad, John, Kerry and Trevor Enns. We wish to express our sincere thanks to all at the Victoria General Hospital, and the I.C.U. staff for their dedicated and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7, or a charity of your choice. We will always love you, Harry. You are now in God's embrace.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • From Ontario, we would like to send our sincere sympathies especially to our Aunt Terry, all the immediate family, extended family and friends. We have all lost a good friend and mentor. Everyone has someone they look up to, in life such as Mahtma Gandi, however, I personally chose Uncle Harry. He was always very knowledgeable in both politics and finance. We, the Gelata family, would again like to send our deepest condolences. - Posted by: Gerry Gelata (Family) on: Oct 07, 2010

  • My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult, yet special, family time. - Posted by: Carol Enns (Family) on: Oct 06, 2010
