LORNE ELERT ANDERSON September 15, 1922 - October 5, 2010 Peacefully with his family by his side, Lorne passed away on October 5, 2010 at the age of 88. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Doris of 56 years and his children Greg Anderson, Kathy (Brent) Sigurdson, Gordon (Cindy) Anderson, Elin (Lawrence) Johnson, Lorraine (Hugh) Collins and Karen Anderson; grandchildren Stephen (Stephanie), Paul and Christopher Sigurdson; Garry (Jackie), Allison and Derrick (Brittney) Anderson; Ryan (Melanie), and Darren (Bridget) Johnson; Melissa (John), Angela and Megan (Wade) Collins; great-granddaughters Sofia Anderson and Taylor Johnson; brother-in-law Joey Arnason; brother and sister-in-law Valdi and Irene Sveinson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lorne was predeceased by his parents Eli and Gavrose Anderson, and his sister Elin (Diddy) Arnason. After retiring from Betel Home he continued to serve the community through volunteer work with his wife Doris by his side. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Gimli and District for 30 years and also volunteered with the Gimli Seniors Resource Council and Minerva Hall. Lorne was a loyal Blue Bomber fan holding season tickets for 52 years, cheering them on through thick and thin. Family was everything to Dad, especially his grandchildren. They gathered at Amma and Afi's house from the time they were little. They always knew the door was open and that if they ever needed a ride Afi's taxi was always available. Sunday suppers prepared with love with Amma at his side were very important to him and everyone was always welcome. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Gimli Community Health Center and the Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gimli Senior Resource or Gimli Betel Home Foundation. GODA NOTT ELSKAN Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
