RENE ROCHER (a.k.a. CHICO) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Rene Rocher passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the St. Boniface Hospital in the presence of his loving family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Diana; daughters: Rachelle (Derek) and Danielle (Jay); sisters: Dolores (Ray) and Alice (Dave), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Firmin and Florence, and brother Alec. Rene was born on March 29, 1942, in the City of St. Boniface. He always enjoyed his accomplished trade of carpentry and moved on to spend 14 years with Island Lake Tribal Council. In 2003 Rene moved to his cottage in Balsam Bay which brought him great enjoyment and peace. Some of his hobbies included building birdhouses, refinishing furniture and collecting antiques. Snowmobiling and travelling throughout Canada and the United States with his Diana were also favourite pastimes. Rene always enjoyed spending time at the cottage with family and friends. In keeping with Rene's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Friday, October 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
