Date of Passing: Oct 05, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNIE BLAHEY March 30, 1919 - October 5, 2010 Peacefully, after a brief illness, at Teulon Goodwin Lodge. Lovingly remembered by sons, Peter (Win), Bob (Frances), and Julian (Miriam), grandchildren Brian, Diane (Dave), Cheryl (Joe), Erin (A.J.), and Kevin, step-grandchildren Derek (Lindsey), Shannon (Kodi), and Cassymarie (John), and great-grandchildren Michael, Jacob, and Ethan. Survived by brothers Bill and Julian, sisters Mary, Jean, Rose, Mildred, and Adeline, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband John (2002), by brothers Les and George, and parents Nicholas and Katherine. Annie was born and raised in Rembrandt, attending Cumming School for a few years until she had to leave school to help her mother with raising her younger siblings. After being employed at various jobs, she met John and they were married on August 13, 1940. They settled on a farm in Chatfield until 1976, when they retired and moved to Teulon. They enjoyed the social activities with local Seniors' clubs. Mom never really retired, as she continued her activity with the Women's Institute as a Life Member, and volunteered for the Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She also worked at Teulon Hospital, and did housekeeping at a number of doctors' homes. She always kept busy with gardening, baking, sewing, quilting, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After Dad's passing in 2002, Mom stayed in her house for awhile, and then moved to Farview Place, and subsequently to Goodwin Lodge. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Goodwin Lodge, and the doctors and staff of Teulon Hospital for their excellent care and support. Thanks also to family and friends for their kindness. Prayers will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon, on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre, followed by burial at Windsor Cemetery. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon, in care of arrangements. 204-467-2525.
