RAMONA KALINSKI August 24, 1924 October 7, 2010 Ramona Kalinski (Roma, Mona or as her husband liked to call her, Monie) wife of Alan (now deceased) and mother of Wanda Senior. Her parents were Albert and Elizabeth Loginsky and it is her maternal cousins who will honour her memory. When young, she was a lovely woman with impeccable grooming and a chic sense of style. With age, she never lost her youthful spirit or the impish humour with which she lit the darkest of moments. But always, she was characterized by her compassion for others and truly selfless generosity. It is no exaggeration to say that more than one life was saved due to her astute instincts and quick action in an emergency. And time again, people turned to her whenever they needed healing. Ramona was, quite simply, one of those persons who could transform the ordinary into something quite magical. It was a gift to have had her as a mother. Her spirituality never conformed to a conventional model and so according to her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made in keeping with her values, to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Her ashes will be scattered in a canal in Venice, Italy where her grandfather and his father before him were once gondoliers.
