Born: Nov 27, 1919
Date of Passing: Oct 08, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICKOLAS WISHNOWSKI Nickolas Wishnowski, born November 27, 1919, died October 8, 2010. As per Dad's wishes there will be no service or funeral. Dad in his usual generous way has requested his body be donated to the University of Manitoba for medical research. Dad was proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also proud of his service overseas during the Second World War where he went to keep people safe from harm . He served with the Royal 22nd Armoured from 1941 to 1944 as a Radio Operator his nickname was Blackie. A man of limited formal education, Dad worked for Western Grocers for over 30 years where he was promoted to Foreman because of his work ethic and his many contributions, helping to streamline deliveries and even providing invaluable knowledge with the design of the Pacific Avenue warehouse area. Dad had a perpetual smile on his face and loved to crack jokes and meet new people. He generously donated his time and energy to everyone around, including the CNIB. Dad worked hard all of his life and shared everything. Strangers were just people he hadn't met yet, with whom he hadn't shared a laugh or a meal. It's time to go, to see my love I've missed her all these years. My tired heart has ceased to beat My eyes are dry of tears. My soul is glad as soon I'll hold The treasure of my heart With my dear Mary I will be And never more will part. My Mother is waiting to greet me And also my beautiful boy With Ken and my Mother near me My heart will fill with joy. Don't weep for me I'm tired no more My soul is warm in this place I pray that we will meet again And we will with God's grace.
