JANET (MCIVOR) ROWLEY BARRETT Peacefully, on October 11, 2010, Janet Rowley Barrett reunited with Murdock Rowley and Harry Barrett to walk in the most bountiful garden one can imagine. Mom, Grandma and treasured Aunt was born on March 23, 1914 in Selkirk. Together with Murdock she worked on the family farm in Sleeve Lake and later in Fisherton raising three children, Colin, Beverley, and Barbara (Jim). Dad predeceased Mom in November, 1964, and in 1972 she married Harry Barrett, once again having a friend and partner to work side by side with on their cattle farm, spending countless happy hours in their gardens, tending the chickens, and cutting firewood. Many treasured evenings were spent listening to the radio, visiting with family and friends and playing cards. Grandma ensured she was never the old maid by convincing each one of her grandchildren (Lance, Carmen, Stephen, Alison, Adrienne, Shanda, Sean, Kyle and Colton) at one time or another to take the right card from her! Janet lived a full life, with many wonderful Sunday drives and berry picking travels, but the time has come for us to say See you later , she taught us never to say Good Bye, as her soul soars through the trees and fields of sunflowers reuniting with her beloved son Colin and other precious family and friends gone before. A service in her memory will be held at the Fisher Funeral Home in Fisher Branch on Thursday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. Interment immediately following at Fisherton Cemetery. Prayers, in celebration of her life, will be held the evening before, Wednesday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. also at the Fisher Funeral Home.
