Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGIM HOI MAH WONG It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Gim Hoi Mah Wong, on October 9, 2010 at Concordia Hospital. Gim Hoi was predeceased by her husband, Wo Wing Wong in 1976 and also by a son, Jin Wah Wong in 2002. Gim Hoi was born in Canton, China in the province of Guangdong on February 14, 1919. There are still extended family members back there. Left to cherish her memories here are her sons, Jimmy (Ping) and John; daughter, Lily Wong Guenther (Gordon); granddaughters, Pam Wong McGrath (Mark), Wendy Lui, Leslie Pawlyk (Mel) and Linda; great-grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher, Tiannia and Cassie, and great-nephew Joe (May) and their children. She will also be sadly missed by a longtime family friend, Sun Wah Wong; daughter-in-law, Lai King Wong and her children, Wanda, Wilma, Bobby and Larry and their children. Mom immigrated to Canada in the mid 1950s. She arrived in Winnipeg, and within a few weeks she moved to Flin Flon, MB where our father worked in the restaurant business. Mom was our rock. She guided, supported, and celebrated our successes. She comforted, empathized and mourned our losses. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff on the third floor, west ward of Concordia Hospital, Dr. Neseer Warrich, Emergency Ward and her physician Dr. Sandra Lee. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 15 at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery) with Pastor Ferdinand Funk officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Gim Hoi Wong to the Concordia Hospital Fund, 1095 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S8.
