ROSA JOSEPHINE LAVALLEE (nee MONKMAN) February 3, 1938 - October 8, 2010 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma at the age of 72. Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughter Valerie, her children Margaret, Christine, Ronnie, James; daughter Patsy, her children Nicole, Matthew; daughter Denise (Brian), her children Jack, Randy, Terry, Penny; son Dennis (Laurie); son Glenn (Cheryl), his children Carolyn, James, Aaron, Amber; and seven great-grandchildren. Best friend and companion Roger and his daughter Laurie (Jason), her children Eternity, August, Cady; her sisters Lillian, Bertha; brother/sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband Jimmy in 1987, her parents, Emma and Henry, brother John Henry. Mom was raised and lived in Minnewakan until she moved to Winnipeg at the age of 17. At 19 she married Jimmy who she was married to for close to 30 years. They raised five children who were their pride and joy. Mom and Dad's love was unconditional. Mom, throughout her life, was an extremely hard worker in and out of the home. Mom remained active until she became ill. Mom loved dancing, cleaning, making her pickles, crosswords and most of all being with her family. The last years of her life were spent with Roger who made her happy. The family cannot express their gratitude in the special care that Roger gave Mom. Funeral services will be held, Friday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, interment to follow. If someone so wishes, there is a viewing on Wednesday, October 13 at Chapel Lawn between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
