SIGURDUR (SIGGI) VIDAL It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on October 9, 2010. Siggi will be deeply remembered by his wife, Ellen of 56 years; daughter Sigrun (Robert) Becker, children, Lori (Kevin) Turcan, Paul Becker, Brenda (Scott) Sychareun; daughter Valdine (Rene) Benjamin, children, Jennifer (Sean) Kovacic and Renee (Darcy) Brewer; daughter Shirley (Dave) Mager, children, Christy, Jamie and Trevor; son Gordon (Bernadette) Vidal, children, Nicole and Monica; daughter Gladys Scaramuzzi, children, Katrina, Marcus and Sergio; son Herman Vidal and son, Christopher Vidal. He will be also remembered by his great-grandchildren, Joseph and Alyssa Turcan; Kaidyn and Jayna Kovacic; Dominic Brewer and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad grew up in the Hnausa area where he loved fishing, hunting and visiting friends and family. He was employed at the Arborg North Star Creamery where he earned many awards for his skill at buttermaking. Upon moving to Winnipeg, he worked at the Victoria General Hospital as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for 26 years. He retired early due to ill health but in spite of this he made the best of each day. The family would like to thank the medical staff at St. Boniface General Hospital, especially 6E for their compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dialysis Unit at St. Boniface General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010 in the Arborg Unitarian Church with interment to follow at the Hnausa Cemetery.
