Hernandez (Uro) announces his passing at home on Monday, October 11, 2010 surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed by his family: his loving wife Adelaida (Dely), his four children, Nerissa Hernandez (Kevin Leung), Julieta Hernandez (Marc Gregoire), Cristina Hernandez and Antonio Hernandez (Aileen). Uro took great pride in his three granddaughters Gabriella and Francesa Leung, and Thembani Mdluli. Predeceased by sisters Leonila Flores and Ofelia Hernandez. Survived by sister Leticia Ramos and brother Ricardo Hernandez (Julie), numerous nieces and nephews and extended families. Uro was born in Alaminos, Laguna, Philippines. While in the Philippines, he graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Commerce, major in accounting at Far Eastern University. He worked in the Bureau of Public Highways and was promoted as Internal Auditor. As part of his work, he travelled extensively throughout the country where he had the opportunity to visit the three regions of the Philippines. The family immigrated to Canada in 1974 where he worked at Versatile, a farm equipment company for 17 years. He retired in 1991. Viewing will take place on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. Catholic mass will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave. Following mass, lunch will be served at Pampanga Restaurant and Banquet Hall, 349 Henry Ave. In accordance with dad's wishes, a private interment will be held at Assumption Catholic Cemetery and Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. We greatly appreciate the special care Mauro received from the staff of W.R.H.A. Respiratory Home Care Program for their excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mauro to either the Lung Association or Manitoba Diabetes Association. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
