DONALD WAYNE LINDSAY Don was born June 19, 1934 in Hamiota, Manitoba. He passed away peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital on October 14, 2010 with his family by his side. Predeceased by parents Lyle and Inez Lindsay, sister Leone Penston, and also by sons Charles, Bruce, and daughter Karen. He will be dearly missed by his wife Barbara Ann, sons Don and Rob, daughter Kathy Hansen (Dana), grandchildren Erika, Megan, Ryan, Matthew, Amanda, Aurora, Bobby, Adam and Jason, great-grandson Cohen, and his many nieces and nephews. Don started his career with the Royal Bank of Canada after high school and worked in a number of branches in Manitoba over the next five years. He was then transferred to an accounting position in Trinidad. This is where Don was to meet his wife Barbara. They were married in 1957 in Trinidad. Don changed career paths while in Trinidad, accepting a position as managing director with United Securities Life Insurance. In 1970, Don returned to Canada to accept a position with Wawanesa Mutual Insurance in Winnipeg. He stayed with Wawanesa until retirement 25 years later. He was General Sales Manager for Wawanesa when he retired. Don was an avid golfer, enjoyed sailing and being around the water. Services will be held at the Springfield Funeral Home in Kelowna, BC for family and close friends. Interment will be at Green Acres in Winnipeg at a later date.
