May 29, 1920 October 10, 2010 With deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved husband, cherished father, adored grandfather and great-grandfather, Ray Shotbolt of Winnipeg, MB on Sunday, October 10, 2010 with his family at his side. Left to cherish Ray's memory is his wife of 64 years of marriage, Frankie (Morton); daughter Lesley Owens; son Gary (Hope) Shotbolt; daughter Linda (Allan) Jorgenson; grandchildren, Raymond (Angie), Jacqueline Shotbolt, Kurt, Tony (Katie) Owens, Michael (Kim), Larysa Jorgenson and Nicholas Shotbolt; as well he will be greatly missed by great grandchildren, Anissa, Rianna, Jenaya Shotbolt and Will Owens. Ray was born in Portage la Prairie, MB. He served in the Second World War with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. Upon return from the war he became employed with the CNR/VIA rail where he worked for 45 years. After retirement Ray and Frankie camped with their Winnebago in several locations. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and also enjoyed curling. He was also associated with the Independent Order of Foresters for many years. Ray enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely, leaving them with fond memories and lots of chuckles. Dad's final wishes were for a private family memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory may be made to Bethania Personnel Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., R2K 3S7, to the Recreation Program for Peppy and Mitzi, his guardian angels (cats). Met Ray in the 70's when I was working with Gary at Hydro and found him a fascinating man with a wealth of stories. I do hope someone recorded some of them. A true gent. rip - Posted by: Geoff Oliver (none) on: Jan 10, 2014
