LYDIA HONKE (nee FRESORGER) On Friday, October 15, 2010, Lydia Honke passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 97. Lydia will be missed by her daughter Marjorie Noble (Marvin); daughter-in-law Gwen Honke; son-in-law Eric Orlesky; sisters, Anne Demsky and Esther Radons; brother Edward Fresorger; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew; sons, Randy and Lloyd; daughter Delores; sisters, Katie, Bertha and Molly; brothers, Lance and David; daughter-in-law Karen and grandson Richard. Lydia was born in Winnipeg on June 5, 1913 and moved with her family to Leader, Saskatchewan where she lived until she married Andrew Honke on March 3, 1930. Over the years they lived in Vernon and Terrace, BC and then moved back to Manitoba to the Whitemouth / River Hills District in 1948. Two years later, in 1950, they moved to Winnipeg where they settled to raise their family. Lydia will always be remembered for her culinary skills. Just ask her family! In later years, Lydia was an active member of the Donwood Manor continuing to knit and bake for many local charities. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington Street. Cremation will follow the service and Lydia will be laid to rest in River Hills Cemetery with her husband Andrew. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the 3rd Floor staff at the Concordia Hospital and to her daughter-in-law Gwen who remained by her side and who was with her when she passed.
