JOAN LISABETH RICHARD (nee ALLEN) February 5, 1938 - October 16, 2010 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Lisabeth Richard after a courageous battle with cancer. Joan is now with the Lord. Joan was predeceased by her husband Cliff Richard, her parents Harry and Edith Allen of Vivian, and her brother Billie. She is mourned by her brother David Allen and family, her sister, Barbara Mair, sons Charles MacQueen (Bev) and Carter Iwaniw; daughters Rose Thorvaldson (Herman) and Nancy Rushak; step- sons Steve Richard (Bev), George, and Carl; as well as an extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also cousins in Canada, England and New Zealand. Joan's chosen profession was in helping others in need of medical care as demonstrated by her life-work, starting with the old Grace Hospital, then King Edward and her final 18 years with Riverview. She was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed the worship, fellowship and church activities. Mom also was an avid fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. We would like to express our thanks to the St. Boniface and Riverview Palliative Care staff for the care Joan received. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to either Palliative Care Unit or to the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Johns Presbyterian church, Bannerman and Charles Street, Winnipeg, on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place prior to the service.
