DOROTHY W. RADONS (nee MCRAE) November 1, 1924 October 16, 2010 On October 16, 2010 at Riverview Health Centre with her children at her side Dorothy quietly left us. Left to mourn her passing are her three children: Chris (Ann), Bruce (Millie), Shelley (Jeff Smith), her seven grandchildren: Laura, Beth, Terri, Roberta, Sandra, Amy, and Scott, her sister Mary Simpson of Guelph and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1962, brother Harry in 1995, and grand-daughter Patty in 1988. Dorothy was born in Moosomin Saskatchewan the youngest of three children to Dorothy (Young) and Harry McRae. Shortly after the family moved to Winnipeg where Dorothy resided the remainder of her life. She attended General Wolfe, Daniel MacIntyre, and Isaac Brock schools and St. Matthew's and St. Stephen's Anglican churches. Prior to marrying John in 1956, Dorothy worked for Ashdowns, Woolworths, and the UIC. Three children followed in quick succession. With John's death in 1962 she went back to work for the Manitoba Department of Labour while her mother tended to her three young children. She retired in 1980 and spent her retirement golfing, curling, biking, bowling, cross-country skiing, and traveling. In 2004, on her 80th birthday, she moved from the family home of 43-years in East Kildonan to Sterling House where she lived happily until shortly before her death. Dorothy was known for her quick wit and humour. She never complained and always kept the interests of her family as her priority. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Thursday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Boulevard with Reverend Diane Guilford presiding. Reception will follow. Private interment at Waverley Memorial Gardens, (formerly Pineview Cemetery). The family wishes to thank the staff of Riverview Health Centre, especially, Tanis, Tony, Barbara, Stacey, doctors Garcia and Prewal.
