Born: Jan 04, 1967
Date of Passing: Oct 18, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTIMOTHY CHARLES HURDELL January 4, 1967 - October 18, 2010 Suddenly on Monday, October 18, 2010 while fishing on Lake Winnipeg, Timmy suffered a massive heart attack and passed away. He was only 43 years old. We take comfort in knowing that he died doing what he did and loved the best - fishing and telling a good joke. He will leave everlasting memories with all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his passing his precious son, Victor Dawson Charles Hurdell, age 5; brother Todd Hurdell (Darlene); sister Kim Hurdell (Todd); sister Marie Cook (Steven); brother Gene Cumberland; sister-in-law Louise Cumberland; uncle Russell Collins; aunt Pat Palson; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends; as well as Joann. He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Victor Hurdell; brothers, Bruce and Alex Cumberland and Victor's mother Marcie Cooke. Timmy was born in Gimli, MB but raised in Riverton and Frog Bay. He started fishing with his dad at the age of eight. They fished together for many years on the whitefish boat until he went out on his own. He loved to fish and it showed. When his quotas were filled he would often go on to help other fishermen at Hecla, Grindstone and Frog Bay. His strength and ability on the lake knew no bounds. He also worked in construction over the years. Timmy was a colourful character, to say the least. He was rough and gruff (a Viking through and through), but good hearted. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand and to share good stories and jokes with his friends, always having a good time. Timmy will be especially missed and remembered by his true bro, Todd. They always had each others' backs, right from when they were young and looking out for their sister Kim. The last time Timmy and Todd got together they shared a big hug and said I love you bro in true Hurdell brothers style. This will never be forgotten. The happiest time of Timmy's life was the birth of his son Victor - his pride and joy; his heart and soul. He always had a new story to tell everyone about his many adventures with his boy', Victor. Timmy was so excited about Victor starting school that he even took the day off from fishing just to take him to school on his first day. A prouder father you would never meet. Victor will always know that his dad loved him more than anything in the world. We invite you to share in a Celebration of Timmy's Life on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverton Recreational Complex, Riverton, MB. Viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., also at the complex. Following the service, sixteen of Timmy's best friends and fishing buddies will escort him to the Riverton Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his dad. We, the Family, wish to thank and will forever be grateful to, Terrance, Michael, Rusty and Cory for being there with Timmy in his time of need. We know you tried so very, very hard to save him. No one could have anticipated the terrible blow we would be dealt that Monday morning, but, letting him go had to have been much worse. We will keep Timmy in our hearts forever and we know you will too. Thank you also to the paramedics for everything they did and for treating the family with such dignity. Our lives will never be the same. Rest in Peace Bro' The Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements, 1-204-482-3271.
