Herb was predeceased by his parents William and Gertrude and is survived by his loving wife Joyce; sisters Helen, Gloria (John), Audrey (Jerry); sons Jordan (Donna), David (Paula) and Jeff, as well as their mother Barbara; grandchildren Danica (Mark), Carling (Derek), Natalie, Emily, Sarah, Abbey; great-granddaughter Selena and many nieces and nephews. Herb joined Investors Syndicate Ltd. in 1951 where he enjoyed a very successful career that spanned 38 years, retiring as Vice President / Comptroller. He remained very active in the community, serving as President of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce in 1989 which saw him travel to the Far East to cultivate business opportunities for this city he so loved. He was also very active in various local organizations which included sitting on the Board of the Riverview Health Centre and Red River Community College, as well as sitting on the Appeals Board of the Workers Compensation Board for 11 years. He was also active in Junior Achievement. Herb loved to travel, especially in his retirement years with his wife Joyce. His sons have fond memories of summers spent up at Victoria Beach when they were young as well as many trips up to his grandparents' farm in the Interlake, where he taught them to hunt and fish, as well as showing them the value of hard work. Many summer evenings were spent playing cards at his cottage near Gimli, MB. We would like to thank all of the staff in Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Herb's life will take place on Sunday, October 24 at Neil Bardal Inc. Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery) in Winnipeg at 11:00 a.m.
