GLADYS TRICK On Wednesday, September 22, 2010 Gladys Trick passed away, gracefully and peacefully. Gladys joins her loving husband, Norman, who passed away in 1988. Gladys will be missed by daughter Janet (Keith) Young of Tyvan, SK, son Gary Trick of Edmonton, and daughter Beverly (Brian) Dueck of Winnipeg and all her grandchildren; Jason (Tracey) Young, Kendi (Derek) Keen, Blade (Becky) Young, Tabitha Dueck, Marlaya Dueck, Colbi Dueck and Peter Dueck; and all her great-grandchildren: Boden, Seth, Kole, Kahli, Grady and Davis. Gladys was born in Brandon, Manitoba and when she was still a young girl her family moved to Winnipeg. She took all her schooling in Winnipeg and when she graduated from Daniel Mac Collegiate she found her place working for the Royal Bank. During her single years she enjoyed travelling with family and friends. She met the love of her life; Norman, in 1947 and they were married in 1949. Gladys continued to work at the bank until their second baby was on the way and at that time she decided to be a stay at home mom. Gladys was never afraid of learning something new - she learnt to drive when she was 40 and took swimming lessons when she was in her 40s so she could keep up to her kids at the lake. Besides being a devoted mother and wife, Gladys always found the time to volunteer for various organizations. Gladys spent many years as a Girl Guide Leader, was active on the executive of many of her children's activity organizations and even volunteered on a regular basis at the School for the Deaf while in Regina. As retirement came along Gladys kept very busy. The main focus of her life was her family and she liked nothing better than having everyone together for a Sunday meal, or having a grandchild for a sleep-over at Nana's . She played bridge several days a week volunteered a couple of mornings a week at a daycare for low income families, swam and exercised at the Pan Am pool and always had time to drive a friend in need. Gladys enjoyed her friends and never missed a football party, a competitive game of Garbage or a trip to Rainbow Stage or Film Night. Even after her stroke in 2005, which left her partially paralyzed, she persevered and worked very hard to gain her independence and she enjoyed several years at the Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence. Gladys always had a smile, a gentle way, and a kind loving heart. She will always be loved and forever missed. A special thank you to Tuxedo Villa for all the wonderful care they gave her over the last couple of years. ln lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honour to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. A memorial service took place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Saturday, October 16, with her family present. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
