Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA TORRANCE (BABS) WARDROP (nee MCKENZIE) February 26, 1921 October 21, 2010 On returning home from celebrating a family Thanksgiving Dinner, Babs had a heart attack. She died several days later at the St. Boniface Hospital with her children at her side. Mum was predeceased by Dad, Archie, in December 2009 and is survived by her son Don (Jo-Ann) and daughter Marilyn. Babs was born and raised in Glasglow, Bonnie Scotland. During the war she supervised the manufacture of Barrage Balloons. She married Archie, her Canadian soldier boy, on New Years Day 1943. As a war bride, six months pregnant, she arrived at Pier 21, Halifax in March 1946 and took the train to Winnipeg. Eventually they bought a home and settled in East Kildonan just in time for the 1950 Flood. Barbara was a Stay-at-Home-Mum who was always available for her kids. After two hip replacements, she made a happy home at the Irene Baron Eden Centre where she made many new friends. We greatly appreciate all the care and kindness Mum received from everyone in the Ivy Trails Wing of Irene Baron. A special thanks to the dedicated and compassionate teams in the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency and Coronary Units. Cremation has taken place with a private interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
