EFFIE SHEPIT (nee FEDORUK) With sadness in our hearts we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Effie Shepit (nee Fedoruk), on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 93. Effie was born on a farm near the town of Kamsack, SK on August 27, 1917. As a young woman she moved to Toronto, ON where she met her husband John, and the two were married on November 7, 1943. In 1952, John, Effie, and family moved to dad's hometown of Gardenton, MB. Effie was predeceased by her husband John in 1971 and her sisters Pauline, Lena, and Irene, as well as her brother Fred. Effie is survived by her sons: Garry (Mary) Shepert, Walter (Helen) Shepert and Eugene (Lynne) Shepert, four grandchildren: Don (Monique) Shepert, Debbie (Scott) Shepert, Brendan Shepert, and Alyssa Shepert, and four great-grandchildren: Courtney, Brooke, and Brett Shepert, and Reid Boles. During her time in Gardenton, mom enjoyed planting her garden every spring and canning fruits and vegetables in the fall. The children were particularly fond of her garlic pickles. In 1980, Mom moved to Winnipeg, MB to be closer to her children. She particularly enjoyed her grandchildren and more recently her great-grandchildren. There were many visits in the cafeteria and courtyard at Riverview Health Centre, her home for the past seven years. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Riverview Health Centre, CD4 for the wonderful care and compassion provided for mom over the past seven years and to the family members in her final days. Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dmytrie Orthodox Church of Lukowce, located approximately five kilometres south of the town of Gardenton, MB. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, followed by lunch in the church hall. Vichnaya Pam'Yat DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
