DAVID E. PENNER David Penner (Dave) was born on January 16, 1913 in the RM of Rhineland. Other than service in the Canadian army, he spent most of his working life with the CNR. On October 31, 1940 he married Mary Wiebe of Lowe Farm. They settled in Lowe Farm where they raised eight children. In 1996 they retired to Morris, and moved to Lindenwood Manor in Winnipeg in 2007. On the morning of October 19, Dave passed away at the age of 97 years. Out of a family of 14, Dave is survived by one sister, Tina Klassen of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by one daughter Loretta in infancy and one great-grandson, Brady. Leaving to mourn his loss are his loving wife of almost 70 years, Mary; his four sons, Bob (Aurea), Allan (Lynn), Leonard (Elfrieda) Doug (Jo Ann Fidler); four daughters, Rose Kieper, Marjorie (Jim) Fraser, Janice (Jack) Penner, and Roxy (Mark) Meaney; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In his retirement years, he spent many hours creating children's table sets, doll cribs and other utilitarian items out of scrap lumber, which were donated to the Morris MCC Thrift Store. A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held in the Emmanuel Gospel Church in Lowe Farm on Monday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m., with interment in the Lowe Farm Cemetery. There will be viewing at the church prior to the service. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9.
