ANNE WOZNY With love and gratitude for a long life well lived, the family announces that Anne passed away peacefully on October 20, 2010 at The Selkirk and District General Hospital at 96 years of age. Her loving husband, Andrew, predeceased her in 1994. Anne was born in Winnipeg to Katherine and John Onysko. Being the oldest child with 10 younger brothers (Freddie, Nick, John, Steve, Alex, Tony, Mike, Peter, Frank and Joe), Anne helped around the house, raising her brothers. Joe is now the only sibling remaining. Andrew and Anne were married in 1932 and moved to a farm in Garson. They started a grocery store in Garson and then owned and operated the Solo grocery store for 35 years in Selkirk until their retirement in 1975. Both valued and enjoyed the company, conversations and friendships with their customers. Upon retirement, several winters were spent in Arizona. A memory of their trip to Australia and New Zealand was shared for many years. Andrew and Anne were fortunate to enjoy 62 years together! Family was very important and they were proud of their four children: Ted, Sylvia, Shirley and Andrew (Andy). Anne always made sure there was enough food for everyone. She enjoyed the family gathering around the kitchen table for a game of Liverpool at her house or out at their cottage in Gull Lake. Blueberry picking was also a family tradition, although Anne was a little fearful of the bears and bees! Anne was predeceased by her parents, nine brothers, husband, an infant son, son Andrew Wozny, daughter Shirley Pirart and son-in-law Ernie Malis. Memories of her generosity, caring manner and interest in family will be lovingly remembered by son Ted (Joan) Wozny, daughter Sylvia Malis, and daughter-in-law Sharon Wozny. Anne enjoyed spoiling her seven grandchildren: Ward (Sandy) Wozny, Lance (Leslie) Pirart, Michele (Gary) Polinuk, Craig Malis, Brad (Angela) Wozny, Trevor (Carol) Wozny and Andrea Wozny. Anne also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Blaine, Nicole, Michelle, Christopher, Alex, Jillian, James and Tea. Anne's last number of years were spent at the Knights Centre and the family would like to thank the Homecare workers for the special care and attention given during this time. The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at The Selkirk and District General Hospital for their care during her stay. Also thanks to a very special person, Mary Busch for her visits and care. A funeral mass will take place Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Fr. Dado Parrenas officiating. Interment will take place in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
