JANETTE CORBY (nee WILL) On October 22, 2010 Janette Corby, aged 72, passed away suddenly and peacefully with her family at her side. Janette is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ken, daughter Jo-Ann (Craig), son Doug (Leslie), daughter Susan (Craig) and the joys of her life, grandchildren Tyson, Lexi and Scott. Also left to mourn is her extended family including Helen Compayre, Joyce Gallaher, Gerry Will (Lois) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents James and Gwen Will, and sisters Dorothy and Gail. Jan was born in Winnipeg on June 29, 1938, and moved to Brandon in her early high school years. She later moved back to Winnipeg where she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Bannerman. Jan spent many years at home raising her three children before re-entering the workforce where she spent over 25 years at a local assurance company. Jan made many life long friends through her working years. Jan's passions included many happy years puttering in the garden and yard, both at home and the Lester Beach cottage, watching her grandchildren in hockey, cross country and swimming, and cooking/baking for her family. Jan was also actively involved volunteering at Fort Whyte Alive where she could be seen tending the firepits, baking bannock or making snow taffy for groups of school children. A special thanks goes out to the doctors and nurses on the 4th and 7th Floors of St. Boniface Hospital where their diligent care was a comfort to the family. Upon Jan's request there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fort Whyte Alive.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My condolences on the loss of Jan. She was a lovely lady. I had the privilege of working with Jan for a number of years through our organization (Shared Health). When Jan retired, our organization was pleased to send her a picture of 3 deer in the woods, that she was thrilled to receive. We thought very highly of Jan. We kept in touch periodically to catch up on both our lives and it was always a pleasure chatting with her. Jan will be missed. - Posted by: Deborah Borecky (Co-Worker) on: Oct 26, 2010
