DONALD WILLIAM MITCHELL Peacefully, in his sleep, Donald Mitchell passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 64 years. Most important in Don's life was his family and his most cherished memories were of time spent with them. He was especially delighted with the arrival of his great-grandson Jahvontae. He also loved golfing, fishing and many different television sports. Don had achieved a high level of skill in Sikaran, with only one level left before receiving his black belt. He worked for Canada Safeway for 45 years and was affectionately known among his co-workers as The Gentle Giant . Don retired October 31, 2009. Don loved animals of all kinds including his numerous dogs but especially Sheba and Elma My Baby . He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Janet; daughters Donna and Denise; granddaughter Janessa; grandsons Jordan and Keishawn and the newest addition to his family, his great-grandson Jahvontae My little man . He will also be missed by his sister Beryle Torgasows; brother James (Sandra) Mitchell and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Don was predeceased by his parents James and Ann Mitchell. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Cremation will follow the service and those in attendance are invited to join the family for a reception at Bardal Funeral Home.
