Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDY PFEIFER It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Andy Pfeifer on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 92. Andy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Nettie, his daughter Angie, her husband Bob Steel and their children Cody and Bailey. He is also survived by his two sisters Josephine Syrowitz and Ruth Neskar, and by Nettie's brother and sister, Sam Shulhan and Stella Shulhan. He was predeceased by his brother Harry and his sisters, Margaret and Florence. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and special friends John and Jean Kowaski. Andy was born in Ladywood, Manitoba on May 5, 1918 and spent his childhood in this area. He served in the Canadian Army until the end of the war, reaching the rank of Sargeant. He worked at Pittsburgh Paint and Western Paint in Winnipeg until his retirement. He was a faithful member of St. Gerard's parish and both he and Nettie sang in the choir. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus and Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 9. Andy and Nettie were avid baseball fans and early in their retirement would travel to Minneapolis for baseball games. They also enjoyed traveling to Roblin, MB to spend long weekends with family and friends. His hobbies were playing his accordion, bowling in the St. Ivan's bowling league, making aggravation boards, working in the garden and he has always enjoyed watching sports and when he could watching his grandchildren play their sports. Andy's smile would light up a room and his personality was inviting to any and everyone he met. You were always welcome in his home. He will be hugely missed by his daughter and her family, especially his son-in-law Bob who was like a son to him. Dad, you were an amazing person who everyone loved, but none more than me. Our special relationship leaves me with great memories of our time together. I am so fortunate and proud to have you as my father. You made everyone's life richer and for that we are all grateful. And now your journey takes you to a better place in God's house, where I know you will be happy and mom and I will see you again there one day where our family will be together again. Prayers will be on Thursday, October 28 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Gerard's Parish, 45 Foster. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gerard's Parish on Friday, October 29 with interment at Green Acres. The family would like to thank Dr. Komenda and the staff at Concordia Hospital.
