JOHN ALBERT (BERT) SIGURDSON October 18, 1914 - October 23, 2010 Peacefully, with family by his side, on October 23, 2010 at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB, John Albert (Bert) Sigurdson passed away. Bert is survived by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Bonnie, parents Sigurdur and Sigridur, brothers Sam (Augustine), Oscar (Laura), Skuli, sisters Olof (Axel) and Helga (Snorri). Another veteran has gone home to rest. Bert was very proud to have served during the Second World War and often spoke of the events during training. Bert and brother Skuli worked very hard on the farm working the land with horses and eventually moving onto the use of today's equipment. Bert loved his little J. D. 4-wheel drive and said that when he came home from the hospital to have it ready as he was going for a drive . Bert had a very soft spot for wildlife and felt the animals and birds had the same right to the land as we did. Bert would not go to see a doctor as he believed they could not help him. A man set in his ways, he was very stubborn, but very soft once you knew him. Rest in peace, great-uncle, until we meet again. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Lundar Legion Hall with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. Interment to follow in the Clarkleigh Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the hall. Pallbearers will be Randy Gudmundson, Kevin Gudmundson, Laurie Gudmundson, Glenn Gudmundson, Cole Gudmundson and Joyce Monkman. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593
