HELEN JEISING (MAGIS) 1921 - 2010 With her family by her side, Helen passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010. She is survived by her daughter Edythe Sholikowski, friend Gino Collucci; grand-children Ronald Sholikovski (Jacqueline); Leonard Sholikowski (Gerrie) and Debbie Wiebe (Gord); great-grandchildren, Amber Huber (Ryan), Amanda Sholikovski (Kurt), Cory Sholikowski (Kara), Andrew Wiebe, Tyler Sholikovski, Katrina Wiebe (Bryan) and Carly Sholikovski. Sisters Carrie Sowany and Betty Kohut, numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was born October 19, 1921, in Hadashville, Manitoba to Mike and Anna Magis. She lived her early years in Hadashville, moved to Winnipeg and later to the Springfield area. She loved her family and had many memories with her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. There was no generation gap at all and each of them has special memories with Little Grandma. She had a special relationship with her sisters Betty and Carrie; they were always together regardless of the occasion. She enjoyed fishing, blueberry picking, mushroom picking and gardening. She loved animals and cared for many dogs over the years. She loved to play cards, scrabble, do crosswords and word jumbles. She was a smart lady and won the majority of the time. She was an excellent cook and some of our favourite memories are of her tiny meatballs with peetpanky (mushroom) gravy, holopchi (cabbage rolls) and potato pancakes. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Alfred Sholikowski, brothers John (Alexandra) and Dan (Anna), sister Mary Martyniw (William), brothers-in-law John Kohut and John Sowany. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of Lions Manor for their excellent care and support over the last four years and especially in the last week. A private family service took place on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. You shall live in the hearts of those who loved you and will never be forgotten.
