Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUDREY WHITAKER (BABE) (nee MCDONALD) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey on October 21, 2010. Mom will be missed by her daughter, Shirley (Irwin) as well as her nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband (Monty of 63 years), parents (George and Besty Mae), sister (Shirley), brother (Tom). Mom was born on June 22, 1919 in Winnipeg where she spent her youth growing up. She attended Luxton and Rupertsland schools. Mom married Dad in 1941 in Winnipeg. They moved to Regina, Saskatchewan in 1947 after their daughter was born. Mom worked as the Regina University bookstore Manager for 20 years. She was President of Seniors Faculty Club, University Women's Club, National award for bookstore display and Board of Directors for Canadian Bookstore Association. Mom retired from the University in 1980. Following her retirement Mom and Dad moved to West Vancouver in 1984 (where she was President of West Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club) and lived there until 2004 when they move back to Winnipeg/Gimli. Mom loved to shop but in particular for clothes'. Her furry friend Suzie' was her special love. She loved to entertain and have friends over. Her perpetual smile and love of life was there right to the end. You will be missed and you are loved Mom! We would like to thank all the Home Care Workers, Dr. Aljafari, staff at the Gimli Community Health Centre and especially the Palliative Care Volunteers for all their special care. Cremation has taken place. A private interment and celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the N.E.
