Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) MAYER Robert Mayer's journey through life came to a peaceful end October 20, 2010. It began 77 year ago in Sintaluta, Sask. where he was born into a large and loving family of six sisters and one brother. Bob is predeceased by his parents, Mike and Natalia; sisters, Irene (Bill), Bernice, Verna (Alvin), Pauline and brother Norman. Remaining are sisters, Eunice (Cliff) and Gladys (Jules) and brother-in-law Doug. Bob also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob joined the Princess Patricia's Canadian Life Infantry in 1955. Later he moved to Winnipeg and married April Dahlgren. Together they raised a daughter Melody and later assisted in raising their granddaughter Candice. Bob's family has since grown to include son-in-law Joe Barron, grandchildren Jai and Shay, grandson-in-law James and a great-grandson Jaden. April predeceased Bob in 1998. Bob enjoyed a number of hobbies including gardening and stamp collecting but his real passion was his love of country music. Bob was a gentle soul who was loved by many. He never asked for much, and never complained about his lot in life. He shall be missed. Bob's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff who cared and comforted Bob through his last days at the Health Sciences Centre. His family also wishes to thank Gord Sharpe who has been a steadfast and supportive friend. Bob has long been a member of the St. James Legion, 1755 Portage Avenue where a memorial luncheon shall be held in his honour 2:00 p.m., November 15.
